Group Finance Manager - Glasgow


We are currently seeking a Group Finance Manager to join the head office Finance team in Glasgow, reporting to the Group Finance Director.

Role Summary

The Group Finance Manager will take responsibility for the delivery of accurate and high quality financial reporting across the Group, development of efficient business systems / processes, cash management and ensure compliance with all statutory and fiscal requirements.  This role is suited to a motivated self starter who has experience of driving positive change and challenging current thinking and has a proven ability to build relationships at all levels.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Oversee all group company accounts, preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements.  Report to the Group Finance Director with timely and accurate financial information including financial statements, analysis and commentary.
  • Supervise and manage finance department staff, accounting operations and ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed and reported
  • Ownership of Contract Accounting processes throughout the Group
  • Develop monthly business forecasting and annual budgeting process together with the FP&A Manager
  • Active involvement in cash management within the business
  • Implement improvements and developments to management accounts outputs and processes to support business needs
  • Ensure compliance on all statutory and tax related matters for the Group
  • Support business system implementations and upgrades and manage ongoing usage and continuous process improvements
  • Manage regular interactions with company auditors, bankers, insurers and professional advisers
  • Manage the year-end financial close process with the Financial Controller
  • Assist the Group Finance Director in presenting reports to senior management and board level directors



  • Qualified accountant with post-qualification experience
  • Industry experience – industrial sector, long term projects/contracts exposure
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent
  • Strong awareness of best practice approaches in the preparation of accounts
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills combined with business acumen, pragmatism and a good sense of diplomacy
    • Excellent IT skills, MS office and a strong working knowledge of business (ERP) systems
    • Flexible approach to meet the needs of the business and happy to travel to other Star locations as required


  • CA/ACCA qualified

This role has a competitive remuneration package including:

  • Salary dependent on experience
