Retail CO2

Star has been at the forefront of carbon dioxide (CO₂) technology for 20 years. We are currently working with leading UK supermarket chains on the application of CO₂ in a retail environment. This includes both transcritical and cascade systems for cooling retail cases (frozen and chill), air handling units and heat pumps.

By investing in CO2 cooling, retailers are able to significantly reduce levels of HFC refrigerant within their estate, or eliminate them altogether. Results to date have also shown a reduction in energy consumption due to the thermodynamic and physical properties of CO2. This has a dramatic effect on refrigeration plant carbon emissions through reduced electrical consumption and lower emissions of high global warming refrigerants.
