Star Refrigeration has appointed a new Retail Market Manager to further develop environmentally conscious cooling systems for the UK’s major multiples. Andy Butler is now driving the specification and sale of Star products, as well as the development of innovative new technology for the retail sector. This includes the application of carbon dioxide (CO2) cooling to dramatically reduce the impact on global warming. Based at Star’s head office in Glasgow, Butler will be working with leading UK supermarket chains on the application of COin a retail environment. This includes both transcritical and cascade cooling systems, food and drink display cases (frozen and chill cabinets), air handling units and heat pumps. Butler, (47), was previously Head of Research & Development for a nationwide refrigeration, mechanical and electrical services company. He has extensive experience in the HVAC industry and holds a BSc (Hons) in Building Services Engineering. Commenting on his appointment to Star’s Retail Market Manager, Andy Butler says: “I was attracted to Star as the company is widely recognised as the UK’s leading refrigeration engineering company. To be part of such a highly qualified and competent team has been an aspiration for many years, and so I am delighted that a personal goal has been achieved.” Butler adds: “By investing in CO2 cooling, retailers are able to significantly reduce levels of HFC refrigerant within their estate or eliminate them altogether. Star’s innovative systems have shown a reduction in energy consumption due to the thermodynamic and physical properties of CO2. This has a dramatic effect on carbon footprint through reduced emissions of carbon and high global warming refrigerants.” Star has been at the forefront of carbon dioxide technology for over 20 years. Star’s range of services for the retail market includes system design, package manufacture, and technical and regulatory support. For more details on CO2 cooling, contact our retail market team here.
