Star Refrigeration is working with the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) to publish a series of articles in their Cold Chain Supplement looking at the involvement of refrigeration in bringing food from the field to the dinner plate.
In the first of four articles, Star’s Group Sales and Marketing Director, Rob Lamb, looks at post harvest cooling and focuses on methods of precooling both fruits and vegetables. These include hydrocooling, high humidity cooling and inline freezing and chilling. India is the second largest producer of fruit and vegetables in the world and precooling solutions will help to improve product quality and shelf life. Future articles to be published later this year will cover inline freezing/cooling, design of warehouse refrigeration systems and retail cooling systems.
