Star Refrigeration received the ‘Supplier of the year award’ at this year’s Robert Wiseman Dairy awards, held at the Cameron House hotel on the banks of Loch Lomond.

The award is in recognition for Star’s recent refrigeration installation for RWD at their new dairy in Bridgwater, Somerset. The 3.2MW central ammonia plant is recognised as the most efficient design within the RWD group and incorporates energy enhancing technology including inverter drive compressors, motors and condenser fans.

This is Star’s second award for the RWD project, after picking up a Cooling Industry Award in October.

Uncle Frank was recently reminiscing about the days of his youth, when he worked as a porter at Smithfield Market. He took the Circle line every day between Victoria and Farringdon, morning and evening. “You know, it’s a funny old thing,” he said, “but I noticed that in the morning I usually went via Embankment, but in the evenings I usually went via King’s Cross. I spent 80% of my life going anti-clockwise!”

He was always good with numbers and had realised that, although he arrived at the station at random times going to and from work and just took the first Circle Line train that came, he was on the southern route 7 days out of 10 in the morning and the northern route 9 days out of 10 in the evening. “Of course,” he said, “in those days the tube always ran on time. You could set your pocket watch by it.”

Star Refrigeration has designed and manufactured an efficiency boosting cooling system for Granville Food Care Ltd in Northern Ireland.

Star installed the energy saving refrigeration plant at Granville's meat freezing and cold storage facility in Dungannon, County Tyrone. The innovative cooling system was designed to replace an existing R22 plant and increase production to meet demand from UK retailers.

Star's turnkey cooling solution for Granville was a finalist in the Installation of the Year - Commercial/Industrial entry at the recent Cooling Industry Awards 08.
