Star M&E Solutions (SMES) worked closely with the Allenbuild design team to deliver the service requirements of the client to comply with building regulation part L, reduce CO₂ emissions, reduce utility requirements and hence minimise energy consumption by promoting the use of sustainable techniques and effective controls such as Solar
Energy, Rainwater Recycling and Condensing Modular Boilers. SMES also maintained all services for the 12 month warranty.

The centre accommodates workspaces for 12 startup companies in purpose built, high specification units for the food industry. The units are let to startup businesses with a maximum occupancy period of three years, after which the tenants will have the opportunity to move into grow-on units elsewhere on the Business Park. The overall design brief was to achieve a BREEAM rating of “very good”.

The main contractor, Allenbuild, operate a contractor evaluation system and SMES scored a high rating, having impressed Allenbuild with their proactive approach to managing programme and specification changes effectively and economically.
