Asda drives down energy consumption by 35% since 2010 with the help of Star Refrigeration and City Facilities Management.
Strategic insight data services provided by Star Refrigeration’s data monitoring business, SDA, saved Asda 5GWh on energy costs and over 1,100 tonnes of CO2e over the last four and a half years across six sites optimised with Ethos software.
A collaboration between Star Data Analytics, a subsidiary of Star Refrigeration and City Facilities Management has helped supermarket giant Asda reduce both energy costs and CO2 emissions. Asda’s Chilled Distribution Centres (CDCs) located across the UK are now fitted with Star’s proprietary Ethos software, which monitors energy performance data from the cooling plants 24/7 and makes recommendations for optimising energy efficiency.
Through focusing on energy optimisation and reduction, Asda has driven down its property related energy consumption by 35% since 2010. This has been achieved by reducing energy use in all of the company’s stores and CDCs, through initiatives such as LED lighting and efficient machinery operation. Asda has been in business for almost 100 years.
