Heat Pump Maintenance Example: Combined Heating and Cooling for Food & Beverage Manufacturer

- System Size: 958kW heat pump / 1.1MW refrigeration
- StarCare Actions: Weekly checks, remote monitoring (Sentinel & Telstar), Ethos integration, compressor maintenance, and on-site engineer training.
- Results: Reduced energy usage, optimised performance, and full compliance.
Case Study: Heat Pump Maintenance for Food & Beverage Manufacturer
Star maintains a combined heating and cooling system with a heat pump capacity of 958 kW. The 1.1 MW refrigeration system provides 958kW of heat rejection capacity which is used to pre-heat the boilers and for CIP.
The schedule involves weekly maintenance for critical checks, regular oil sampling and monitoring of pressures and temperatures to ensure the heat pump is always running at optimum performance. Planned preventative maintenance also includes annual compressor checks, and remote monitoring for alerts comes in the form of Star’s Sentinel and Telstar systems.
Star is also on hand to give training to on-site engineers for daily and weekly checks and logging of plant, for example when there is a change of personnel at the company and specialist input is required.
Finally, the plant is also equipped with Ethos, Star’s data-driven energy optimisation system, which can predict potential heat pump issues based on historical data and the use of digital twin systems. This allows for efficient maintenance planning, preventing problems before they occur.
