Star thermosyphon cooling system at the Anglia Building Society, 1986

In 1986, the first of Star’s thermosyphon cooling systems was installed for the Anglia Building Society in Wellingborough. The consultants for this project were looking for innovative technology with a high efficiency specification. Star used thermosyphon cooling, which meant that with careful design of the condenser and site piping layout, the refrigerant could circulate without running the compressor in colder weather – approximately half the time. This offered substantial electricity savings.
