In 2024, Star took part in the BBC Bitesize Careers Tour, with Technical Sales Engineer Tom Woolston speaking to over 1,100 school students from Year 9 to Year 12 about STEM careers. Sitting alongside BBC radio presenters and production managers, Tom shared his career journey from when he began as an industrial refrigeration technician, an inspiring story which demonstrated how hands-on technical roles are crucial to innovation and sustainability. The event showcased the diverse career paths available in STEM and technician roles, encouraging students to explore technical careers.
