As new Azanechiller 2.0

With the recent heatwave prompting many refrigeration plant owners and operators to review the resilience of their cooling systems, Star Refrigeration has announced the immediate availability of an as-new Azanechiller 2.0 following a change in the original customer’s requirements.

The air-cooled ammonia water/glycol chiller has never left the factory and is available for delivery in around two weeks, providing operators across the food, cold storage, pharmaceutical, leisure and petrochemical sectors with an opportunity to replace ageing refrigeration plant without the manufacturing lead times normally associated with new equipment.

Designed for high and medium temperature cooling applications, with glycol secondary fluid temperatures as low as -15°C, the Azanechiller 2.0 delivers a nominal cooling capacity of up to 850kW (based on -8°C glycol). Featuring a large-capacity air-cooled condenser, it has been engineered to maintain cooling performance in ambient temperatures of up to 40°C and above. With refrigeration systems expected to remain in service for decades, the Azanechiller 2.0 has been designed with increasingly demanding summer conditions in mind.

During the recent heatwave, similar Azanechiller installations continued to meet customer site cooling demands, typically operating at part-load conditions with spare capacity available if required and, in some cases, requiring only one of the two compressors on each pack. This demonstrated how integrated controls and whole-system engineering can maintain cooling performance without forcing equipment to operate at its limits.

The unit uses the natural refrigerant ammonia with a low refrigerant charge of just 263 kg, requires no water or chemical water treatment and incorporates premium industrial components designed for an operational life exceeding 25 years. While refrigeration systems may deliver similar cooling duties on paper, differences in engineering design, component quality and controls integration can have a significant impact on lifetime performance, reliability and operating costs.

Features include premium variable-speed reciprocating compressors, an industrial-grade air-cooled condenser, integrated Mitsubishi PLC and HMI controls, automatic oil recovery and factory-tested plug-and-play installation.

Supplied in as-new condition with a 12-month warranty, the unit offers operators an opportunity to install a premium industrial refrigeration system without the cost normally associated with a new build.

With many operators now reviewing refrigeration resilience following the recent heatwave, the immediate availability of this as-new Azanechiller 2.0 offers an opportunity to upgrade ageing refrigeration plant without waiting for conventional manufacturing lead times. Customer references from operators already using Azanechiller systems are available on request.
