Indian Cold Chain – 2nd Article
Star Refrigeration and Starfrost are working with the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) to publish a series of articles in their Cold Chain Supplement looking at the involvement of refrigeration in bringing food from the field to the dinner plate. In the second of four articles, Starfrost’s Managing Director, Neil Winney, looks at post harvest cooling and focuses on the cooling process from the field to the supermarket. India is the second largest producer of fruit and vegetables in the world and precooling solutions will help to improve product quality and shelf life. The two further articles to be published later this year will cover design of warehouse refrigeration systems and retail cooling systems. Group company Starfrost, who design and manufacture inline freezing and cooling equipment for food processing applications, have formed a joint venture with Star Coolers and Condensers Pvt. Ltd. based in Jalgaon, Maharashtra to design and manufacture inline solutions for the Indian and far east markets. Published in the Cold Chain supplement to the Jan-Mar 2012 issue of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Journal, the Magazine of the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE).
