Star Refrigeration picked up the prestigious ‘Contractor of the Year Award’ at the RAC Cooling Industry Awards 2009. Beating stiff competition from Honeywell and Johnson Controls, Star picked up the award for the ultimate team prize. The awards were held at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane and were attended by suppliers, contractors and end users from the refrigeration and cooling industry. Collecting the award for Star Refrigeration was Sales Director, Rob Lamb who commented “This award recognises the tireless efforts of our staff who continuously strive to develop and deliver high efficiency, low life cycle cost cooling solutions to our customers.” The judges praised Star’s new initiatives over the past 12 months; ranging from online CO2 and F-Gas training, through to the development of a range of packaged ammonia chillers. Star’s work in the development of CO2 technology for retail and freezing applications was also recognised with this award. Star were highly commended for their collaboration with Tesco in the development of standard transcritical CO2 systems for retail applications, and Star Learning Solutions received the same commendation for what the judges described as “a flexible alternative to the conventional route to City & Guilds 2079 F-Gas assessment.” Another notable winner on the evening was the IoR for Real Zero. This picked up three awards for Training Initiative, Environmental Marketing Campaign and the Gold Award. Star Technical Solution’s David Blackhurst and Pat Stacey were part of the projects steering group and David collected the Gold Award with other members of the Real Zero team.
