Marc Gault has been shortlisted in the Rising Star of the Year category

Marc Gault, regional contracts manager at the Bellshill branch of Star Refrigeration, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Rising Star of the Year category at the Ex-Forces in Business Awards which will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on 3rd December.

The awards ceremony is the world’s largest celebration of military veterans who have gone on to exceed in business, presenting them as role models for current and future service leavers.

Mr Gault said, “The army has equipped me with the skills, knowledge and strength of character to excel in civilian life, qualities which I am grateful were recognised by the senior team at Star Refrigeration, who have invested their time and trust in me and helped me progress within the business at an accelerated rate”.

Mr Gault’s achievements over the past eighteen months are exceptional, from installing an eco-friendly CO2 system at BrewDog’s Eurocentral beer warehouse in Scotland to spending two months in Norway working at a world-leading renewable energy heat pump which provides district heating to the entire city of Drammen. These achievements, along with his work ethic and flexible attitude, led him to be offered the role of regional contracts manager after just 12 months as an industrial refrigeration engineer.

Andy Butler, training facilitator at Star Refrigeration said, “Every task Marc has approached has been with enthusiasm and humour no matter how adverse or arduous the conditions – this is almost certainly a result of the years that Marc has spent in the forces.”

Marc joined the Bellshill office in North Lanarkshire in 2016 on the company’s fast-track engineers’ training programme, designed to prepare engineers from other sectors for a career within industrial refrigeration. Engineers on this programme typically take up to eighteen months to reach the first professional grade and complete their formal training – something which Mr Gault completed in just eleven months.

“We are incredibly pleased that Marc has been shortlisted in the Rising Star category at the prestigious Ex-Forces in Business Awards. Such recognition is a testament to all that he’s achieved during his career and we know that he will continue to succeed at Star,” said Mr Butler.

Star Refrigeration often attends Career Transition Partnership Fairs which are aimed at connecting ex-military and service leavers with potential employers to find out more about their organisation and the opportunities on offer.

The company has a strong track record of recruiting service leavers in a wide range of positions, including refrigeration and heating engineers, project managers, service controllers, and regional managers within its nine branches across the UK. Each branch offers a complete range of services, from consultancy to design through to installation, commissioning and maintenance of cooling solutions to suit a variety of different business needs at local, national and international levels.

Star Refrigeration offers a fantastic career path for ex-forces personnel interested in the industrial refrigeration industry.
