Star Refrigeration is sponsoring the IOR’s Women in RACHP network career development day to celebrate the 2018 Women in Engineering Day.

Star Refrigeration is once again sponsoring an exciting career development day for women in the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump sector. The CPD training day organised by the Institute of Refrigeration Women in RACHP Network celebrates International Women in Engineering Day on 23rd June 2018.

The theme of the 2018 event is ‘Raising the Bar’ and the day is open to anyone working in, or who has an interest in, the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump sector. Taking place at Fujitsu in Elstree on Friday 22nd June, the training day is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands on experience and focus on personal development.

In a male dominated industry, exclusive events such as this are important to encourage gender equality in engineering and ensure female members of the workforce are reaching their full potential.

Astrid Prado, Marketing Manager of Star Refrigeration said, “As one of the leading refrigeration contractors in the UK, we proudly support CPD opportunities such as this Women’s Career Development Day. Everyone in the RACHP sector has a responsibility to encourage more women into engineering roles and help them progress to the top positions, to address the current imbalance. We’re thrilled to have successful female engineers and managers within our company and hope that with initiatives such as this one, we can help increase the number of women in the engineering sector and accelerate positive change”.

This year’s career development day has a focus on air conditioning and personal motivation and behaviours to help women get ahead in the industry. The morning session offers a practical demonstration for technical and non-technical staff, while the afternoon workshop arms women with the right mindset and tools for achieving goals and improving confidence. Lunch and refreshments will also be provided and it’s an excellent change to network with other like-minded women.

International Women in Engineering Day is held annually on 23rd June to celebrate women’s achievements in the industry and encourage more young girls to pursue an engineering career. 2018 is the fourth consecutive year the day has been celebrated and aims to raise the bar (and career aspirations) of prospective female engineers.

The career development day takes place on 22nd June 2018 from 9am-4.30pm at Fujitsu, Elstree. Delegates can reserve a place on the IOR website and are encouraged to book in advance.
