Star sponsored the Effort and Progress award to celebrate the work and achievements of IPS engineering apprentices.

Star Refrigeration has joined other big names in the engineering industry such as BAE Systems and National Grid to sponsor an award at the IPS Engineering Apprenticeship Awards. The award ceremony took place on 20th July 2017 in Rochester, and recognises the achievements of engineering apprentices studying with IPS.

Dave Bartlett, Operations Training Manager at Star Refrigeration said, “We thoroughly support any apprenticeship provider which is training up the next generation of first class engineers. The hands-on training students receive at IPS International is invaluable, and we look forward to welcoming graduates into our workforce in the future. It was an honour to sponsor an award at this year’s ceremony and I congratulate all of the students who have done themselves proud”

The award sponsored by Star was called the Effort and Progress Award, and the winners were Alice McErlane, Lewis Rook,  Matthew Birch and  Aidan Holmes. Other awards attained included Most Improved, Personal Development Cup, MultiSkilled Award and Apprentice of the Year.

IPS International is a specialist apprenticeship training provider with courses available all over the UK and overseas. The training and consultancy company provides first class courses which ease the transition from education into the workplace, in areas such as engineering and production, health and social care, construction and IT.

Founded in 1970, Star is now the largest independent refrigeration company in the UK. It is renowned in the engineering industry for being a pioneer of natural refrigeration and heating technology, and has been involved in innovative projects all over the world. It has the nation’s largest team of industrial refrigeration engineers and is always on the lookout for fresh engineering talent.

Bartlett added, “It’s important for us to play an important role in our industry and get involved in events where we can, which is why we like to sponsor awards of this kind. At a time when the industry is struggling to attract youngsters, it is vital that the achievements of young, novice engineers are recognised as they start their career”.
