Star Refrigeration signs up to the Young Person’s Guarantee, furthering commitment to developing young people

The company supports the Government’s drive to provide apprenticeships for 16-24 years old

Star Refrigeration is now an approved member of the Young Person’s Guarantee in Scotland; together we are committed to providing career opportunities for 16-24 year olds in Scotland through work experience, volunteering and more.

Developing Young People has always been one of Star’s key values. As a company, Star are committed in their efforts to regularly provide apprenticeships, trainee roles and graduate opportunities to young people in the industrial refrigeration industry, many of which have progressed to senior roles within various departments across the organisation. In December 2020, Star achieved Gold status Investors in Young People accreditation – further demonstrating the company’s dedication and support for young employees.

With the support of partner Young Workforce West (DYW), a regional group which has been established to help employers to shape their future workforce, Star will be engaging with local schools to create work experience opportunities and encourage more young people to consider a career in both engineering and the industrial refrigeration industry. Star Refrigeration employees will visit local schools to connect with pupils, giving advice on preparing for the world of work –  including tips for CV writing and interviewing skills.

As a national leader in green refrigeration technology and sustainable industrial heat pumps for district heating and industrial processes, Star is well suited to support the young leaders of the future.

Nadia Rae, Group HR Director at Star Refrigeration said “We have a great opportunity for work placement within Star Renewable Energy. The Climate Heroes Work Placement will take place for 1 week during September or October at our head office in Thornliebank. As well has gaining an understanding of the industry, there will be the opportunity to connect with other departments in the company such as Design and Production and learn how vital the role of heat pumps is to decarbonise society and achieve net-zero.”

Additionally, Star will be facilitating a visit to Queens Quay district heat pump on the Clyde where there will be scope for 30-40 aged 11-14 to come on the visit.

Nadia Rae, Group HR Director at Star Refrigeration said:
