Established in 1972, the Derby branch is located on the outskirts of the city, with easy access to the Midlands motorway network. The branch covers the North and East Midlands region, including Nottinghamshire, Milton Keynes, Leicestershire, Peterborough, Birmingham, Shropshire and Staffordshire.
The Derby team handles national key accounts for a number of leading retail TCS&D operators, each with multi-sites across the region. Client retention levels are high due to an overriding emphasis on customer service and engineering expertise to help keep facilities operating at optimum design parameters. Many key accounts have been held for in excess of 10 years and several maintenance clients have remained under the care of the branch for over 20 years.
The branch has seen a major growth in business over the past two years due to a general increase in maintenance contracts, service and installation work. This includes the procurement of a multi-site maintenance contract for retail distribution and an ongoing multi-phase installation project for a leading logistics operator.
Business growth has resulted in a significant recruitment drive, with two refrigeration engineers, three trainee engineers and one apprentice joining the team in the past 12 months. Recruitment is ongoing, with the branch actively seeking qualified refrigeration engineers and an apprentice to join the Derby team.
The branch currently has 19 field based engineering staff covering over 50 customer sites across the region. The team includes 10 qualified engineers, three supervisors, two apprentices, three trainees and an engineering assistant. Field engineering staff have an average of 10 years’ service, whilst the branch’s customer-facing management team has an average length of service of nearly 20 years. All five members of the management team have been promoted from engineering roles.
