The Role

We are looking for a Junior Control Panel Design Engineer to join our skilled team, responsible for the production of control panel electrical designs and schematics for special purpose machines and equipment using AutoCAD

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this role will include:
  • Prepare high-quality design information as requested, including electrical schematic diagrams, general arrangement drawings, various design calculations, equipment schedules, and supporting documentation for control panels.
  • Maintain accurate records in project files including design calculations and modelling results.
  • Attend meetings with internal multidisciplinary design teams and external project team meetings.
  • To facilitate PLC software & assist in general technical enquires from SMES team and the wider group.
  • Always adhere to SMES H&S policy & guidelines.
  • Carry out employment duties, under initial instruction, where requested.

The Candidate

The successful candidate should have:
  • At least 1 years Electrical Design experience
  • Experience using AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical preferable or other design packages.
  • Works well as a team player or alone.
  • Flexible approach to working, willingness to accept changing priorities.
  • Good commercial acumen.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in an organised manner.
  • Continuous improvement mentality and receptive to change.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • IT literate, with experience on MS Office applications.
  • Show initiative and have problem solving skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • A relevant Engineering qualification Electrical, Electronics or Automation.

The following skills and experience would be beneficial, but not essential:
  • Knowledge of control system electrical design, including PLC, motors, VSD’s, instrumentation, safety, and the functional principles of safety.
