Hours:

39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:30, Friday 08:00 to 15:30. Flexibility in working hours and travel requirements required.

Industrial Contract Team

The Site Engineer will join our established Industrial Contract site team on installations across the UK with some of the country’s biggest refrigeration customers.

The Role

The successful candidate will report to the Commissioning Manager, and be responsible for the effective, and complete commissioning and troubleshooting of the industrial refrigeration plant.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with customer and Star project team during the commissioning phase, lead any technical discussions
  • Review of Engineering and Vendor documentation
  • Coordinate activities with other departments and subcontractors
  • Review  of Commissioning Procedure
  • Preparation of Commissioning Program
  • Support the installation team in meeting target dates and costs
  • Compile site specific RAMS for commissioning activities in the Site Managers absence
  • Maintain Star customer relationships, acting as focal point in absence of site manager
  • Conduct mechanical assembly works as required.
  • Electrical inspection and full I/O checks of the whole installation
  • Functional testing of control panels and installed instrumentation
  • Configuration / setup up of VSD drive units
  • Identify any issues, early during the commissioning phase that have the potential to delay programme.
  • Avoidance of cost overruns due to incomplete testing and commissioning
  • Reporting of any system issues to commissioning & technical department
  • Minimise delay of project handover due to unresolved technical issues
  • Verification of system design through provision of test results
  • Communication of changes affecting ‘as built’ drawings, diagrams & electrical specifications
  • Completion of project Test and Commissioning documentation as directed by commissioning manager
  • Support Star’s customers by delivering familiarisation training prior to handover
  • Assist with hand-over process to client

The Candidate

It is expected that the successful candidates will have an appropriate academic background and experience within the refrigeration industry.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate good technical and communication skills along with ability to work to deadlines. They must also have the ability to work as part of a team as they will be working closely with a number of suppliers, subcontractors and internal departments.
Candidates must hold a full clean driving licence.

Skills / Qualification requirements

  • Experience of working within multi-disciplined teams and interfacing with contractors
  • Fluent in reading and interpreting P&IDs, Piping isometrics and GA drawings
  • Be able to read and understand Electrical and Electronic  Schematic diagrams
  • Ability to fault find, diagnose and problem solve both mechanical and electrical control systems.
  • Able to test and prove electrical installations function correctly
  • Principle understanding and capable of setting up variable frequency drives
  • Principle understanding of PLC’s
  • CSCS Card
  • ECITB Safety Passport
  • City & Guilds F-Gas 2079
  • City & Guilds Ammonia Handling 2078
  • Co2 experience
  • Level 3 electrical installations BS7671 18th Edition ( preferred )
  • Experience with industrial screw and reciprocating compressor packages
  • Competent with Microsoft Windows, Office, Outlook
  • Permit to work Systems
