Star Refrigeration's eLearning group prepares Italian engineers to gain the European F-Gas Certification
i-Know.com, the learning arm of Star Refrigeration and Italian training centre Centro Studi Galileo have partnered to offer refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump engineers in Italy the opportunity to prepare for the compulsory European F-Gas qualification, at anytime and from anywhere with a highly interactive online course. The Italian centre will be using the same eLearning course that successfully prepared thousands of engineers in the UK and Sweden to achieve the F-Gas qualification.
The European F-Gas Certification is a legal requirement without which RACHP engineers are not able to undertake works relating to installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance of cooling and heating equipment. In many European countries the certification of engineers has been complete as F-Gas certification became a legal requirement in July 2011, but Italy, as well as other EU countries, are only just beginning the qualification process.
In an attempt to make the training and certification accessible to everyone, Italy’s largest HVACR training provider, Centro Studi Galileo, has signed a licence agreement with i-Know.com to offer the theory element of the training online. The Italian centre have translated the content of the English version of the F-Gas course, and the content has been adapted to the country’s specific requirements.
Technicians/engineers will now have a choice to either undertake the theory training in a traditional classroom environment at a specified location, to study online whenever and wherever it is convenient for the candidate, or both. Technicians around the country will have the possibility to undertake the training from their homes in a cost effective manner without having to stay away from work or incurring travel and accommodation expenses. Once they have studied the material, candidates will attend the Centro Studi Galileo assessment centre for a day to carry out the certification test, and if required, to undertake practical training prior to the assessment.
eLearning makes learning fun using interactive animations, which makes the understanding of components and their operation much easier. It allows students to study at their own pace and in their own time, and delivers a high level of knowledge standard to all students as a base line. eLearning students learn more and faster as each screen is loaded with relevant information only, handpicked by industry experts.
Furthermore, extra support for students is available in the form of a free Resource Library packed with hundreds of Health & Safety Bulletins, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Handbooks and Papers, and experts will be on hand in the website's Forums to answer any questions students may have.
