Star’s cool taste of luxury for world famous store
A world famous London department store has invested in an energy efficient carbon dioxide (CO2) cooling system from Star Refrigeration.
Star has designed and manufactured an Envichill DX natural refrigeration package for the luxury goods retailer. The CO2 cooling system has been installed at an environmentally conscious temperature controlled distribution centre operated by the globally-renowned department store.
The Envichill DX package is a single stage transcritical CO2 system with a 20kW capacity. The plant serves two small chill rooms designed for energy efficient storage of perishable food and drink items at a temperature of +4°C.
Star’s Retail Market Manager Andy Butler says: “The client was looking for a future proof natural refrigerant solution. Our energy efficient CO2 cooling systems enable end users to reduce their carbon footprint and have zero impact in terms of global warming and ozone depletion.”
He adds: “Star delivered the Envichill DX package as part of a fast-track building refurbishment programme. We’re delighted that our CO2 plant has helped the famous retailer’s new distribution centre to achieve a high rating in its BREEAM environmental assessment for sustainable buildings.”
Star’s Envichill DX is a single stage transcritical CO2 package designed for single, high temperature applications. Typical applications include chill stores and produce chambers in temperature controlled facilities, as well as chill/dairy cases in retail stores and supermarkets.
